A little background story for you first. When we built our house the plan was always to change out the builder grade light fixtures. I know that sounds kind of silly, but since it wasn’t a custom build we couldn’t bring in whatever light fixtures we wanted, we could only choose from what they had available. We weren’t thrilled with the options. Given that, we went with a lighting package that had bathroom vanity lights we liked and then just planned to switch everything else out over time.
Most of the fixtures have been switched out, but the one that bothered me the most was still here. The dust collecting beast in our two-story entry. Ugh. There’s no getting those glass shades clean and they keep getting worse. It drives me nuts. We’ve been waiting to change this one since it has to be hired out due to the height.
For Christmas, my husband had me a pick out a new chandelier for the entry way and I couldn’t be more ecstatic!!! So long sucka! Here’s what I chose:
Oh, and I even came across a smaller 9-light version of the new entry chandelier here for under $200 that is definitely worth sharing!
Since we’re going to have an electrician here with a massive ladder, we figured we might as well have him change out our living room fan. Now, in a perfect world, I would put up a chandelier in here. It would look AWESOME. In fact, my friend and neighbor has this one up in her living room (we have the same floor plan) and it’s jaw dropping. But, I’m an angry person when I get too hot, so a ceiling fan to help move air around in the summer is a must. The one we currently have really is perfectly fine. The bowl is another dust and dead bug collector though. The light kit on the bottom does nothing to add to the light in the room. And well, you probably know my feeling about boob lights.
Do we live in the same house? Lol! We did the same thing and chose the basic lighting package. I thought by now I would have changed the lighting, but yikes it's expensive and then add in the price of hanging from ceilings that high it's been hard to justify. I hope we'll change ours out soon too. I can't wait to see what yours looks like!
It is so expensive 🙁 I've been doing a mix of high (well, high to me) and low to keep it manageable. Still takes my breath away when I look at the prices of lighting. And then there's having to pay the electrician. Yuck. If I could shimmy my way up a two story ladder without freaking out I'd do it myself. Just not that brave 😀
Since I shared our kitchen with you guys earlier this week, I thought it would be appropriate to also share the eat in nook off to the side of our kitchen. If you’ve been with me a while, you’ve seen it before. Not much has changed other than swapping out the chandelier for a lantern…
It’s up. And, I’m so happy and relieved it works! Thank you guys for talking me off the ledge last week 🙂 I’m hoping to get crack-a-lackin in here soon with adding the picture frame molding under the chair railling. I’ll keep you updated!
There was once a time where I didn’t decorate my home with rugs. I didn’t understand the importance. Didn’t realize how much they can impact a space. I thought they were a waste of money. That was about 20 years ago. 20 years ago I also didn’t understand the importance of brow pencils. I had…
As this pregnancy sneaks closer and closer to the end (now close to 7 weeks away – eeeek!!!), I’ve been trying to knock some things off my to-do list. Here’s what I’m currently working on: Project 1 – stenciled drapes for nursery In my mind this was going to be a quick and easy project. …
So excited to share the teen boy bedroom makeover I did for Sam! Such a bittersweet moment watching him grow from young boy to teenager. He is such an amazing soul and just I love this kid like crazy. He started asking for some changes to his room about a year ago. I wanted whatever…

Previous Dining Chairs These chairs have been with us since the beginning. They were passed down (along with an entire…
