Summer is here! I love how easy and laid back this time of the year is. I kept that ease in mind when putting together this casual table. We don’t have an outdoor dining furniture, but that didn’t keep me indoors. I’ll show you how you can easily transform your outdoor space into a beautiful dining spot. A full source list is included at the end of this post.

You Don’t Need a Fancy Table
Our back patio’s normal set up is four Adirondack chairs and a coffee table. You can check that out here. After removing the patio furniture, I pulled out our trusty folding table and set it up right in the middle. From there I added a tablecloth and brought our indoor dining chairs and entry bench outdoors.

Long Tablecloth
If you’re using a folding table like I am, you’ll want an extra long tablecloth to hide those legs. This tablecloth has been used so much by me. In fact, you guys are probably tired of seeing it! But, the classic print, size, and price at under $12.00 makes it a clear winner in my book.

Seating
No outdoor dining chairs? No problem! I brought our dining room chairs outside as well as our entry bench for even more seating. It’s fun to see your furniture in other settings like this.

Flowers
Flowers in a plastic container that I picked up at the garden center were simply dropped into a white outdoor pot and used as my centerpiece. Doesn’t get any easier than that! And since you’re not dealing with cut stems that can droop if purchased too soon, you can have this done days in advance.

Casual Table Setting
Summer is laid back and easy, so is this table. All you need to add are some finger foods. Plates are stacked for guests to grab themselves and pretty napkins are knotted to prevent them from being blown away when a strong breeze comes through. Mineral water in pretty glass bottles means you don’t have to worry about bringing out glasses.

Cafe Lights
Obviously these cafe lights aren’t a must have, but they always make an outdoor settings feel more special. We actually keep these up year round because I love them so much.

Outdoor Drapes
We get a lot of wind that comes through our patio. Because of that I only put our patio drapes up when we have guests. But oh how I wish they could stay up all the time! It’s another touch that isn’t a must have, but it softens things up and really helps make the space feel like an extension of the inside. Since they don’t stay up all the time they’re not even outdoor drapes. Just a pair of Ritva from IKEA. You can find my tutorial for the DIY rope tie-backs here.

NewestI’m loving this soft casual look on your patio. Great idea bringing the dining chairs and bench outside. 💞
I was surprised at how easy it was to quickly change up the space out there. I will definitely be doing this again! We should eat out there one night while you guys are visiting!
this looks gorgeous, shelley! i love the tablecloth- what a difference it makes!
It makes me want a permanent outdoor table now!
what a pretty spot for summer get togethers! love how you put it together repurposing other furniture. genius!
Thank you, Ashley! We don’t often eat outside because it’s usually too hot here in Houston so I liked being able to rework the space for the few times we can actually enjoy it without melting 😀
First time here….and all I can say is Wow, you are blessed to have that brick patio and shelter!!
We were most excited about finally having a covered outdoor patio with this house. We never went outside much in other houses because there wasn’t shelter from the sun. It has been a huge change!
Your seating is so pretty, and I love that checked tablecloth for summer!! So beautiful friend! 🙂
Thank you, Andrea! That checked tablecloth has definitely been put to good use. It goes with everything!
