About Me

Hi, I’m Shelley

Thanks for stopping by, I’m so happy to have you here!
I want Crazy Wonderful to be place where you can find inspiration for creating a home you and your family will love. Here you’ll find DIY projects you can recreate in your own home and tips on where to save so you can make quality purchases in other areas.  Don’t wait until you have a different house.  Start loving the home you’re in now.  My belief is that with a little creativity and elbow grease, you can make your home look like a million bucks without spending it.
Here are just a few things I love.
  • Jeans + t-shirts
  • Lip balm vs. lip gloss
  • Neutrals
  • Topo Chico
  • Vintage finds
  • Smell of fresh cut wood

Don’t wait until you have a different house. Start loving the home you’re in now.”

How it Started

Crazy Wonderful was created in 2009 as a creative outlet for me as a new mom.  My husband and I had just moved back to my hometown in Kansas into a home in need of updating. As a young family, everything had to be done on a budget.

I quickly learned that to get the look I was after I needed to get creative by reworking items we already had, learning how to DIY, and thinking outside the box. I began sharing projects I was working on around the house like painting our all oak kitchen white.

How it’s Going

Now with over a decade of DIY projects and figuring out my style I’ve learned a few things:

1) You will never regret learning how to do things yourself, even if it takes try after try.

2) It’s ok to call in the experts. Do what you can, but save your sanity and hire out what you can’t.

3) Creating a home you love takes time, don’t rush it and enjoy the process of finding your style.

4) Spending money on fewer but higher quality pieces goes much farther than several cheap pieces. I’ll show you how to do it.
